I am 24 years old, and I was born in Takeo province. I have 4 siblings: 2 brothers, and 2 sisters. My parents are farmers; they don’t have much money to support me. They work very hard to get some money to support the family, but we cannot solve the financial problem in the family. Therefore, my sister and I had to work and study at the same time. I was able to earn between 120$ to 150$ per month, but I couldn’t afford my daily spending such as study materials, room rent, and food or my school fees. Sometimes I need to send some money to my family as well. I am now a second-year student in majoring in Business Management at Pannasastra University of Cambodia.
Besides studying and working, I spend my weekends getting involved in volunteer work through my university in various communities in different provinces. The aim of our work is to share our knowledge with people about the importance of child education and environment protection as well as to provide some materials to poor people and people in need. I am passionate about volunteer work. I have improved my personal development, group work, communication skills, and confidence through conducting various activities.
The Advanced Centre for Empowerment (ACE) provides Cambodia’s youths with great opportunities to gain leadership skills, volunteer work, work experience and student dormitory. My ACE scholarship helped me get new experiences, and exposed me to a new environment, with free accommodation. ACE also offers volunteer activities. Moreover, I now have opportunities to work with experienced and knowledgeable people and get new education. While working with ACE I will try my best to study and gain experience and share my knowledge with people in the community. I expect this scholarship will help me to achieve my goal to succeed in my academic life and have a proper job in the future.
This scholarship is very important for me to achieve my goal in the future since it allows me to pursue my degree. In addition, I can gain some work experiences and knowledge.
